Noodlers AHAB Fountain Pen

(SOLD) NOODLERS AHAB with a flexible nib. Noodlers is a very interesting company with an owner that has what you might say an eccentric view on how to sell his inks and pens. Nathan has a large, interesting catalogue of inks in imaginative variations. He also has a knack for finding interesting pens to offer as well. The AHAB is probably the best seller PEN of the bunch. It's a 140mm long and about 15mm in diameter. A modified Cigar shape with a distinctive clip design. These pens are made from Vegetative Acrylic/Celluloid. A very tactile old-school, pre petrol-chemical thermoplastics material. It's extremely durable and it's organic. His Youtube video where he drives the family car over one of these and then later shoots one out of a shotgun is some of the best testimonial video verite you will run across!

The pens are well made and they write wonderfully. The Noodlers Stainless Steel Flex nib is quite impressive with it's ability to create variable line width. The pen comes completely apart for cleaning and maintenance. It's easy to swap nib and feed, or maintain the pump. The pen's pump can be completely removed and used as an Eyedropper. The reservoir you get with the pump is large too and it allows you to prime and adjust wetness. So, both approaches have their perks. The Ahab design used a hand carved Ebonite feeder and you can create a nice wet flow for the flex nib, or simply by slipping the feed down into the section, make a drier flow. Noodlers pens are made to experiment with. That is why they tend to have all kinds of options

The photos show the pen's parts list. The pen's body and cap with finale and the section are all semi transparent Acrylic in Pima Tortoise swirl. Mirror polished steel at the waist and clip both signed NOODLERS INK. The feed as mentioned is, black ebonite with a thin breather tube. Then a polished Stainless Flex nib also signed. The pump is integral, and connects to the section with threads and a rubber O-ring. If you use the pen as an Eyedropper, you simply unscrew the pump and with a toothpick roll the O-ring up to the body connecting threads making that tight sealed. The pump consists of the reservoir, and a hollow handle with a screw fit top end and a o-ring on the handle. You fill an ahab by dunking past the section of the pen and then pumping it down and up twice. This will fill the tank. as well as the handle hollow. (Which acts as a sort of reserve section that gives you that extra page of writing) You can also fill the pump unscrewing it and using an eyedropper or syringe to fill it. The trick there is to remember that the feeder breather tube slips into the pump's hollow handle.
