KOWHAI AMBER Ink Cartridge Review/Test

Here is an ink in the yellow family, so you have a pastel, light colour. It's a yellow that has an orange tone to it and it gives a lot of chance for shading. So it's not just one dimensional. I say that and then the Chromatography shows it's a single dye. Which flows fast and easy in water. Is that a surprise? There is no trace of the original line on the test, all the colour has moved right up the strip. It once again impressed me as a decent, basic primary colour ink. One thing I liked personally, was it's a yellow tone with some character. I like the fact it's not a super bright tone. A bit of organic character in this one.

These pastels do not draw me in, but that all comes down to taste. I find the in the whole colour series. These are good, practical inks and if the colour in the cartridge fits your needs, there is nothing really to stop you using one of these, or as I suspect with certain projects, many? Anyone that wants to draw with ink, this is overall a great little pallet to work from.

ABOUT THE INK and International Short Cartridges

These inks are acid free & archival safe. They dry quickly & are only slightly water resistant. (You trade water resistance with a dye that is easy to clean and water-based.) Dyes are non-toxic, pH neutral & Light-fast. All the ink colours are very kind to pens and easy to clean after use. They will store up to three years without any problems. The ink cartridge are European.

These international Short Cartridges are about 38mm long & 8mm in diameter. Most pen bodies will hold one inserted into the pen feeder/section and then one extra spare reversed behind that in the tail of the pen's body.

The short carts fit all the pens I sell which have removable converter pumps. (A long International Cartridge is about the same length as an ink converter. While it holds more, you can't store a spare like with the short.)
