WHERO/RED Ink Cartridge Review/Test

This ink is red, truth. I jump immediately to the Chromatography Test strip because it shows me there is only one dye colour in this ink and that dye colour is red. With such a monocolour spectrum, is it going be an ink of character and nuance? Yes, there is good shading properties. They are shade percentages of the red, but that doesn't stop this ink from giving your text some variable character. The dye moves quickly from origin when it gets wet. That means little resistance in that aspect. The other side of that coin is it won't discolour your pen or gear and will clean up without much effort. It has a dry flow where it's quick to dry after contact. That does seem to affect it much when writing. I did this test with a fine nib and it didn't give me any trouble.

The question will likely arise with these colours. Could you mix them? The short answer would be yes, I don't see that there is any issue with mixing them, they all seem to be made with the same approach chemically. Most of the time an ink brand range is well behaved as it tends to follow the same manufacture process. The second part of that question is how successful is such experimentation? Hmm, that's the tricky one. It's usually a exercise in ratios that stumps the DIYer. One single drop of one dye colour added to an entire cartridge may completely transform the colour. You won't blow off any fingers, but you might end up with a lot of results that all look much the same. I coined this stuff as squid ink ... but don't let that stop you trying.

ABOUT THE INK and International Short Cartridges

These inks are acid free & archival safe. They dry quickly & are only slightly water resistant. (You trade water resistance with a dye that is easy to clean and water-based.) Dyes are non-toxic, pH neutral & Light-fast. All the ink colours are very kind to pens and easy to clean after use. They will store up to three years without any problems. The ink cartridge are European.

These international Short Cartridges are about 38mm long & 8mm in diameter. Most pen bodies will hold one inserted into the pen feeder/section and then one extra spare reversed behind that in the tail of the pen's body.

The short carts fit all the pens I sell which have removable converter pumps. (A long International Cartridge is about the same length as an ink converter. While it holds more, you can't store a spare like with the short.)
