MANUKA HONEY BROWN Ink Cartridge Test/Review

Here goes my first review of the [currently] 8 new ink cartridge colours I am now offering as auctions. Brown inks sound a bit negative based on their colour. Often they are quite interesting, especially depending on their tone and character. A lot of brown inks are given the name SEPIA. Which sounds more impressive than brown doesn't it? I have named this ink cartridge Manuaka Honey Brown as it reminds me of that rich organic colour. It's a good brown. There are distinct shading characteristics, the broader the nib the more you will see this. Haloing. If you look at the Chromatography strip in the photo. You will see that the dye furthest spread from the original line is an indigo blue! In the ink spread example it dried with these bluish halos, there was also shine in the darker sections of saturation. This is an ink of some complexity.

Looking again at the Chromatography, you can see all the colour has moved from the original line of ink. So waterproof it isn't. While the colour is nice and saturated, it will run if it gets wet. That is going to be true with all of these cartridge inks. They are meant to be easy to clean. They don't stain and clean with water. Most colour fountain pen inks behave exactly like this. Here is an ink that looks historical and a bit vintage because modern inks are all black and/or blue. Truly we have a fountain pen colour here.

ABOUT THE INK and International Short Cartridges

These inks are acid free & archival safe. They dry quickly & are only slightly water resistant. (You trade water resistance with a dye that is easy to clean and water-based.) Dyes are non-toxic, pH neutral & Light-fast. All the ink colours are very kind to pens and easy to clean after use. They will store up to three years without any problems. The ink cartridge are European.

These international Short Cartridges are about 38mm long & 8mm in diameter. Most pen bodies will hold one inserted into the pen feeder/section and then one extra spare reversed behind that in the tail of the pen's body.

The short carts fit all the pens I sell which have removable converter pumps. (A long International Cartridge is about the same length as an ink converter. While it holds more, you can't store a spare like with the short.)
